Useful information

The Saas-based artist Werner Zurbriggen, born on October 6, 1931, perceived the people of the valley like no other and, in his own way, distilled them down to their essence.

He combined clear geometric forms with expression, weaving them into a tapestry of beauty.
Among other works, this process gave rise to the elongated silhouette of the woman in traditional Valais costume, which he continued to paint until the end of his life.

Endowed with an extraordinary sense of decorative values and as a master of composition, the artist created a figurative constructivism of unmistakable character.

On and in private and public buildings in Saas-Fee and outside the valley, one encounters the artist’s works with their unmistakable style.

On December 8, 1980, the artist was suddenly taken from life at the age of 49, in the midst of his successful career.
