Useful information
The Saas artist Werner Zurbriggen perceived the people in the valley like no other and reduced them to the essentials in his own way. He combined the clear forms of geometry with the expressive and wove a web of beauty from them. This resulted, among other things, in the elongated silhouette of the traditional Valais woman, which he painted again and again until the end of his life. Gifted with an exceptional sense of decorative values and a master of composition, the artist created a figurative constructivism of unmistakable originality. The works of the artist with his unmistakable style can be seen on and in public buildings in Saas-Fee and outside the valley. On 8 December 1980, at the age of 49, the artist was torn from his successful career.
